We just discovered Stony Brook recently ourselves. It's definitely a place that bears further exploration. I also recommend World's End in Hingham, not because it's a challenging ride, but just because it's a really lovely place and I think you'd like it.
We became members of the Trustees of Reservations (http://www.thetrustees.org/) a bit over a year or so ago, and have been very happy with it. We've discovered a number of places we wouldn't have otherwise.
