Hey man, this is Grim ... long time reader, first time responder ... :)
I have one query for you regarding your findings ... "This erodes one of the most basic premises of the fiction writer: that there is somehow something important about the imaginary world of your thoughts… and that it’s important that those thoughts and emotions be communicated to and shared with others."
I would kill the second half of that. So many writers don't actually care if their thoughts are shared with others, they simply have a compelling desire to write them down. The same can be said of many artists. Sharing the works is great, and an excellent way of obtaining feedback, but it is not the sharing that drives the writing (or art in general) that drives the sharing.
Thoughts on that one? I'll take your answer off the air ... :)
